Some news:
Doin' It With Mike Sacks!
On this month’s episode, I interview the great David Sedaris, a full hour of questions and queries and jokes and inquiries. Also, I present two new segments: “Forgotten Comedic Gems” (this episode: Jean Shepherd) and “Short Sharp Advice" (this episode: Does One Need a Literary Agent?). I also present the worst jobs to be found in adult films ("environmental inspector for the local government, specializing in sewage runoff in areas with highly dissolved oxygen rates").
I plan on adding additional episodes each month. Beyond the monthly episodes, I'll be reading from chapters of my books. Later this month will be the first chapter of my recent book Passing on the Right, about a terrible comedian who fails upwards by converting to "conservative comedy." Think Rob Schneider or Jim Breuer or Dennis Miller or Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
In addition to reading portions of my books, I also plan on releasing more avant-garde episodes, which will contain a secret message in each. If you can stomach it, there's a free gem to be had for all.
I'll answer your questions on the podcast if you email me at mikebsacks@gmail.com.
One more thing: Doin’ It is produced by the best podcast producer in the world Rob Schulte. You can find this episode and every Doin’ It episode on all major podcast platforms, including on the host’s site Sonar:
My Latest Book:
Welcome to Woodmont College: $4.99 through McSweeney's
Perfect for those entering their freshman year in two months!
It’s a ritual as time-honored among teenagers as prom or drinking too much and crashing your parents’ Corolla into a window of a chain Mexican restaurant—glossy catalogs from colleges arriving by the dozen each spring. Learn for yourself why U.S. News and World Report has hailed Woodmont College “a singular educational experience for young people searching for neglect of the arts and aggression by townies.”
Co-written with Jason Roeder. "Woodmont is one of the funniest things I've read in years!" -- Jack Handey.
Available in both digital and print.
An article I wrote you might want to check out:
I interviewed the brilliant Mike Judge for The New Yorker about his recent reboot of Beavis and Butt-head.
A Suggestion from Me:
The new season of Happy Valley is gorgeously written by the brilliant Sally Wainwright. And the acting! Incredible! Sarah Lancashire! James Norton! Genius!
Check it out. Seriously. It’s amazing.
Be well! And keep reachin’ for those stars!
“Think Rob Schneider or Jim Breuer or Dennis Miller or Judge Brett Kavanaugh.” Do we really have to? Frankly Christie is funnier if he ever went full-on Rickles.
