Mike Sacks Releases the Audio Version of Randy!
Randy: The Full and Complete Unedited Biography and Memoir of the Amazing Life and Times of Randy S.!
In 2019, I published the book Randy: The Full and Complete Unedited Biography and Memoir of the Amazing Life and Times of Randy S.!
It was (reportedly) a memoir of a Maryland 30-something named Randy that I found at a garage sale. It was listed as one of Vulture’s Top Ten Comedy books for the year. (Blurbs below.)
I've since created a multi-episode audio production, with a new script, and it's available to listen to exclusively on Sonar now, for free. It stars, among others, Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies), Colleen Werthmann (Oscars, Daily Show, Steve Martin), Eric Martin (Stinker Lets Loose, Heads will Roll), Samara Naeymi (Pokemon), Mike Mitchell (Doughboys), and others.
I'm happy with the way it turned out. Thought you might like to give it a listen:
Podcast:
In this month’s episode of “Doin It With Mike Sacks,” I interview Shonali Bhowmik, musician, singer, comedy aficionado about her new album “One Machine at a Time.” It’s a terrific album, one that I listened to all summer. I know you’ll really enjoy the conversation and her work.
Here’s Shonali’s website. She’s pretty much impossible not to love.
Be well! And keep reachin’ for those stars!
About Randy:
Vice: "It’s a roundabout, complex character study about a simple guy with simple tastes in which Sacks simultaneously pays homage to and brutally satirizes his home state of Maryland."
Nathan Rabin: “Randy is a hilariously, unexpectedly poignant and eminently worthy addition to Sacks’ sociological/anthropological exploration of the American Jackass and his curious ways. Audacious and inspired.”
John Colapinto of The New Yorker: “Randy does more to explain certain unexpected turns in this nation's political fate over the last couple of years than a bazillion think-pieces in the Times, Atlantic, New Yorker, MSNBC.”
One more thing: Doin’ It is produced by the best podcast producer in the world world Rob Schulte. You can find this episode and every Doin’ It episode on all major podcast platforms, including on the host’s site Sonar
Congrats, Mike!
